Vocabulary acquisition will be a prime focus of Spanish 2. Students will learn vocabulary in the following categories: family members (mother, sister, etc.); words to describe people (tall, thin, etc.); body parts (arm, leg, etc.); medical terms (germ, infection, etc.); school supplies (notebook, ruler, etc.); school environment (gymnasium, cafeteria, etc.); school subjects (English, biology, etc.); school-related verbs (to study, to review, etc.); food (apple, chicken, etc.); food-related words (plate, fork, etc.); cooking words (to boil, frying pan, etc.); interrogatives (what, which, etc.); interrogatives (what, which, etc.); stem-changing verbs (to want, to think, etc.)–go verbs (to leave, to hear, etc.); combination stem-changing/-go verbs (to have, to come, etc.); meanings of various other irregular verbs (to see, to give, etc.); reflexive verbs (to bathe, to wash, etc.)
Students can use interrogatives to correctly formulate a question in Spanish.
Students can conjugate e to ie stem-changing verbs in the present tense and correctly use them in a sentence.
Students can conjugate o to ue stem-changing verbs in the present tense and correctly use them in a sentence
Students can conjugate e to i stem-changing verbs in the present tense and correctly use them in a sentence.
Students can conjugate –go verbs in the present tense and correctly use them in a sentence.
Students can conjugate verbs that are both –go verbs and stem-changing verbs in the present tense and correctly use them in a sentence. (Ex: tener)
Students can identify possessive adjectives and use them correctly in a sentence.
Students can identify demonstrative adjectives and use them correctly in a sentence.
Students can conjugate ir in the present tense and correctly and use it in a sentence.
Students can utilize the construction “ir + a + infinitive” to express the future tense in Spanish.
Students can utilize the construction “tener + que + infinitive” to express the concept of having to do something
Students can identify direct object pronouns and use them correctly in a sentence. Students will be able to place them both before a conjugated verb and attached to the end of an infinitive.
Students can conjugate reflexive verbs in the present tense and use them correctly in a sentence. Students will be able to identify reflexive pronouns and place them both before a conjugated verb and attached to the end of an infinitive.
