Mr. Rush’s Math Classes

The 2024-2025 school year has gone by quickly.  The students completed their ISASP testing on the week April 7.  ISASP stands for the Iowa Statewide Assessment of Student Progress, a summative accountability assessment for all Iowa students in grades 3-11, aligned with the Iowa Core academic standards. They are the yearly tests that students in grades 3 to 11 take in Reading, Language, Writing, and Mathematics.    The test that the students take is based on their current grade.  One of the things that we did in class was to spend some time reviewing for the ISASP tests.   We know that if students are in a class such as Algebra or Geometry where they are working on those specific topics, that they may not have reviewed some skills for close to a year.  For this reason we spent time in the month prior to the test reviewing certain topics that they may not have seen for a while.  Some topics were interpreting graphs, finding area and volume, probability, Venn diagrams, two-way frequency tables and other topics they may not have been using for a time..   On Monday, March 31 we had all students in our math classes take an ISASP Practice test in math according to their grade level.  The practice test familiarizes the students with the features of the test and how to navigate the test.   It is beneficial for them to see what the test looks like and the kinds of questions they will see.
